Bo van Ommen
Pega Senior System Architect at BPM Company
Bo: “I was born and raised in Maarssen, where I spent my entire childhood. from primary school through secondary education. My current circle of friends also originates from there.
After completing secondary school, I went on to study Business IT & Management, now known as HBO ICT, at HU University of Applied Sciences. I was looking for a program that combined technology with a business-oriented perspective, and I found that combination to be a perfect fit there. During the program, I worked with economic models, business processes, and technical subjects; it was precisely that mix that appealed to me so strongly. After graduating, I therefore looked for a role in which I could apply this combination in practice: being technically involved, but not solely as a full-time programmer. I was seeking a position where elements such as stakeholder management and team collaboration would also play an important role.”
How I found my way to BPM Company
“That’s how BPM Company came onto my path. I was approached via LinkedIn by recruiter Robert van El. My conversations with Robert and with Eelco, the CEO, gave me a clear picture of the role. What appealed to me most was the shared responsibility as a team for a successful implementation. We think along on the requirements, create an ambitious yet realistic planning, monitor progress, and ensure a strong delivery. These types of projects require a great deal of technical knowledge, but they also rely heavily on other skills, such as communication and team interaction. That combination aligned perfectly with what I was looking for. In addition, I had a very positive impression of the people within the company. I met colleagues who all shared a strong desire to grow—both as professionals and together with BPM Company as an organization—while genuinely looking out for one another.”
“Freedom and flexibility are important to me”
“I now work here with great enjoyment as a Certified Senior System Architect. I have the freedom and space to shape my role largely in my own way. I do a lot of development work, but I am also strongly involved at the front end of projects, where I support business analysts and help think through the best possible solutions. That freedom and flexibility are important to me. They allow me to approach my work with even greater enjoyment and commitment.”
Focus on employees
“What I truly value about BPM Company is the attention given to employees. You have a dedicated manager with whom you discuss your progress on a monthly basis. These are open conversations in which successes are celebrated, but where there is also room to be honest about challenges. You receive strong guidance, the space to learn, and a training budget to continue developing yourself. In addition, BPM Company works with complete BPM Company teams at client sites. For example, I worked in teams with many colleagues at Mandemakers and later at PGGM, which ensures optimal knowledge sharing and a strong sense of team spirit. The collaboration is both professional and informal: pleasant and approachable, yet always focused on quality and delivering results for the client.”
Outside of work
In my free time, I am very active in sports. I play basketball and am currently training for a half triathlon: Challenge Almere-Amsterdam in September 2026. Swimming, cycling, and running are all part of my weekly routine. In addition, I enjoy spending time with friends, sitting on a terrace together in the weekend. That balance between work, sports, and relaxation is what truly gives me energy.
