Floris de Groot
Pega Lead Business Architect & BA Practice Lead at BPM Company
Floris: “I grew up in Dronten. After secondary school, I chose to study Financial Services Management in Zwolle. At the age of 21, I started my professional career with my first job at Delta Lloyd in Amsterdam. That did require a move, as commuting daily from Dronten was not practical. I relocated to Almere Poort, where I lived for eight years. Since 2017, I have been living in Baarn with my wife, our two children, and our dog.”
Process optimalisation
“My career started at Delta Lloyd, where I worked as a Corporate Relationship Manager. I supported companies that had entrusted their pension contract to Delta Lloyd. In addition, I took on the roles of Process Manager, a truly fascinating experience. It was there that something happened which would shape the rest of my career: my interest in process optimization was sparked. I went on to earn my Learn Six Sigma certification and discovered where my true passion lies: understanding, analyzing and improving processes.
At the same time, I started a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Studying later in life has a clear advantage: you can immediately apply what you learn in practice.
That curiosity about process optimization led me to Eiffel, a consultancy firm specializing in Legal, Process, and Finance. A natural fit with my background. Consultancy strongly appealed to me: the variety of work, the diverse challenges, and the opportunity to help organizations design more efficient processes. Through Eiffel, I took on my first consultancy assignments. I was seconded as a Process Consultant at Achmea and worked with several municipalities.”
Competence lead
“I then made the move to FTE Groep, a consultancy firm based in Utrecht. At FTE Groep, I spent four years working on projects primarily within the pensions sector, with process optimization remaining the common thread throughout.
At the same time, I continuously invested in my personal development. I became a Competence Lead and took the initiative in exploring new opportunities and developing propositions. During this period, it was also time to complete my graduation thesis for my Business Administration degree. My research focused on the question: “how can you leverage knowledge commercially?” This led directly to concrete initiatives: bringing knowledge together, developing it into clear propositions, and ultimately creating shared value. For me, it is essential to create win–win situations in relationships and collaborations. When professionals continue to develop themselves and use their expertise to help clients, you simultaneously strengthen your own value proposition.”
Business analysis and Low code
“At FTE Groep, I was given the opportunity to train as a certified Business Analyst through the British Computer Society. I was also the first consultant within FTE Groep to be deployed independently of a specific sector, a great additional milestone.
After four years at FTE Groep, a former colleague introduced me to Viqtor Davis, which was later acquired by Valcon. For one and a half years, I worked on various data-driven consultancy projects both domestically and internationally. Internally, I also served as Project Manager for the implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISO 27001). Around that time, I increasingly came into contact with low-code projects and implementations. The name “Pega” started appearing more frequently as well, particularly in reports by Forrester and Gartner. I became intrigued and wanted to explore the Pega ecosystem in greater depth.”
Vision
“I then came into contact with BPM Company, one of the first Pega partners in the Netherlands. From the very first conversations, I had a strong positive feeling. BPM Company is a solid player in the market: a niche firm that has proven itself and, despite its relatively compact size, has built an impressive track record. That speaks to clear vision and strong execution. It also became evident to me that BPM Company operates as a flat and transparent organization, where I would truly be able to influence the direction of the company. That strongly resonated with me.
You are not just a number here. Thanks to the short lines of communication with management and the strong involvement of our field managers, employees receive a high level of personal attention.”
Personal development
“Active knowledge sharing and personal development are crucial to me. I am constantly reading and learning, because standing still means falling behind. I also derive great satisfaction from helping others grow in their development. That is certainly possible at BPM Company. We are a group of like-minded professionals: an engaged and motivated team driven by intrinsic ambition. People you can truly spar with, who challenge one another, and in doing so, help our clients continuously move forward.”
Finally, a few words on a personal note
“BPM Company organizes an annual ski trip. A definite highlight for me as an avid skier. Beyond that, I’m passionate about almost all ball sports, including tennis, football, and golf, with tennis firmly at the top of the list. I’ve played tennis from a young age and, during my youth, trained for several years within the national federation development program.
I also truly enjoy good food and drinks with family and friends. I love hosting barbecues — you could say I appreciate the art of Burgundian living.
At home, life is lively and full of energy with two young children: a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. So there’s never a dull moment!”
