What does a Pega training at BPM Company Academy look like?

Are you considering taking a Pega training and want to know what to expect before making a final decision? In this blog, we explain step by step what a Pega training at BPM Company Academy looks like: from registration and preparation to Pega certification and practical application. This gives you a clear understanding of what you are choosing.

Step by step: how a Pega training at BPM Company Academy works

Step 1: Registration and intake

After registering for a Pega training, a short intake follows. During this conversation, we align together whether the content, level, and learning objectives of the Pega training match your experience and ambitions.

If there is a good match, you will receive a confirmation of your registration with all practical information, such as training dates and location, start and end times, included training materials, preparation assignments and other relevant details. This ensures you start your Pega training well prepared.

Step 2: Preparation and self-study with Pega Academy materials

Prior to the classroom training days, you will receive access to the official Pega Academy learning materials. This helps you build a solid theoretical foundation. This preparation is an essential part of our approach and ensures that classroom time can be used optimally for deepening knowledge, answering questions, and working through practical examples.

Stap 3: Klassikale Pega training en praktijkoefeningen

BPM Company Academy provides open Pega trainings at our location in Utrecht, as well as in-house Pega trainings at client locations. The open trainings are publicly accessible; current dates can be found on the website under the training offerings. Training days typically run from 09:00 to 17:00 and consist of multiple training days. There is ample time for breaks, and food and drinks are provided—because learning takes energy!

Each training starts with an introduction. The trainer creates a safe learning environment where there is room for questions, interaction, and experimentation. During the training days, you work together with other participants on Pega theory, hands-on assignments, realistic case studies, and examples from real client projects. The trainer continuously links theory to practice, so you learn how Pega is actually applied within organizations. You don’t just learn from the trainer, but also from each other.

Step 4: Blended learning and personal guidance

Our Pega trainings follow a blended learning approach: a combination of self-study, classroom sessions, and personal guidance. Between training days, you have the opportunity to practice, ask questions, and prepare for the next session. This approach leads to better knowledge retention, greater depth, and a higher learning outcome.

Step 5: Focused Pega exam preparation

For Pega trainings that include an official Pearson VUE exam, we place extra emphasis on exam preparation. This includes explanations of the exam structure and question types, practice exams, tips and tricks, and insights into common pitfalls. This increases the chance of success and builds confidence for the official Pega certification exam.

Step 6: Completion and evaluation of the Pega training

After the final training day, you will receive a certificate of participation. The training is evaluated, and together we assess to what extent your learning objectives have been achieved. In addition, a short evaluation takes place after each training day, along with a preview of the next session. This way, we continuously focus on quality and learning outcomes.

Step 7: Obtaining your Pega certification (optional)

After completing the Pega training, you schedule the official Pega exam yourself. The exam is not included in the training fee. It is an optional component, and participation is decided individually by each participant. Thanks to the combination of theory, practice, and guidance, participants typically achieve their Pega certification faster and with a high success rate.

Step 8: Applying Pega in practice

Even after the training, you continue to benefit from the knowledge you have gained. You are better prepared to apply Pega in projects, collaborate with other Pega roles, and contribute to process improvement and digital transformation within your organization.

Practical examples that make the training immediately applicable

Layer Cake & Re-use

One of the major advantages of Pega is the ability to reuse solutions in an intuitive way. This is supported by the well-known Pega Layer Cake. However, when this Layer Cake is designed in a way that aligns with the specific context and needs of your organization, significantly more value can be achieved. During the training, we actively work on this by collaboratively setting up an effective Layer Cake structure based on a practical example.

Constellation UX

Constellation is Pega’s new UX architecture. However, many existing Pega users still rely on the previous UX architecture (UI Kit). If this applies to the participants, we will explore during the training, based on concrete practical examples, how the transition to Constellation can be made and which choices are relevant in this process.

Data model

The training covers the fundamental principles of data modeling within Pega. In practice, however, a well-designed data model proves to be one of the most critical success factors for a Pega project. To fully understand the impact of data model decisions, we place additional emphasis during the training on practical examples and common pitfalls related to data modeling.
